Denominator uses various data extraction technologies to collect the DEI information from thousands of unstructured and structured sources. The sources can be group in five main types; website, filings, registries, news and proprietary input.
Because of missing global DEI data filings requirements much of the data need review by in-house data analyst before the raw data is verified, standardized, and linked into one global, structured, and comparable dataset. Companies also contribute data to Denominator’s platform to gain clearer insight into their own DEI performance. This data is reviewed and accepted when meeting necessary standards.
Data Quality
Denominator operates a rigorous data & research process with strict quality controls. It includes an open and transparent challenge process to validate data continuously.

Training: All Denominator analysts and research staff have gone through extensive data training.

Separate quality control process: Before data is uploaded into the main database, it undergoes a quality control process for data consistency, quality control and comprehensiveness.

Data Quality Reports: Quality and tolerance reports were created to flag inconsistencies and/or outliers in data. These are manually reviewed by analysts.
Continuous Monitoring
Sources are continuously monitored with technology and by in-house researchers to detect data changes and keep data records valid. Depending on the source, data is monitored daily or at a cadence that reflects the status of the source. Data deltas are captured and updated in the database and automatically triggers recalculations of downstream meta-data and scores.
Contributing Data to Denominator
Beyond automatic data collection Denominator enhances its database in two ways.
Analyst-driven
Denominator’s research team conducts a more comprehensive due diligence process on key companies by adding a layer of manual research to catch things additional data that may not have been caught by our automated sources technical research functions. All data will be publicly available information. Example: a conference report where executives have made public statements about their commitments to DEI.
Customer-driven
Companies can self-report data and upload it into Denominator’s database

Companies with no advanced rating can submit data to Denominator free of charge and receive an Advanced rating. Contact Denominator to receive your link to submit DEI relevant data. The advanced rating will help companies run smoother procurement processes when doing business with other companies and adds an important signal to existing and future employees about their commitment to DEI.

If a company already has an Advanced rating, it can still upload additional information to improve coverage and insights. To report any other changes directly to us please contact Denominator.
